is an associate professor for fundamental and human rights at the Faculty of Law of the University of Vienna, co-founder and co-director of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Human Rights (BIM) from 1992 to 2019, Director of the Straniak Academy for Democracy and Human Rights, and, among other things, head of the module "Democracy - Rule of Law - Human Rights" in the Studium Generale of the University of Vienna and coordinator of the course "Human Rights" at the Danube University Krems. He was also Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights 2007-2012 and Vice-Director of the Human Rights Research Centre of the University of Vienna 2014-2018. Head of numerous academic projects as well as "EU Twinning Projects" for EU candidate countries; extensive expert activities for international organisations, authorities and law firms, legal representation in proceedings before the European Court of Human Rights; publications, lectures and presentations at domestic and foreign universities, institutions and organisations.
