Born 26 02 1941. Studies in medicine. Training in Pharmacology; graduation in Psychiatry and Neurology in Vienna. 1980 habilitation on the issue of gender identity. A.o Prof. since 1985. Training in Freudian psychoanalysis. Member of the WPV and the IPA since 1980. Until 2010 director of the extra-universiatarian and interdisciplinary Ludwig Boltzmann-Institute for Addiction Research. 1976-2010 chief editor of the "Viennese Journal of Addiction Research (together with R. Mader). Many publications covering diverse issues: psychiatric and substance use topics, history, sexual disorders, gender trouble, cinema, art psychology.
