Prim. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Wilfried Lang has been head of the Department of Neurology, Neurological Rehabilitation and Acute Geriatrics at the Hospital of the Brothers of Mercy Vienna since 2002. After studying medicine at the University of Ulm in Germany, he completed his specialist training in neurology and psychiatry at the University of Vienna with research s organisation of the cerebral cortex with a focus on motor function and memory in 1991. Since then, his clinical and scientific interests have focused in particular on stroke with all fields of action (prevention, acute treatment and rehabilitation). Since
the foundation of the Austrian Stroke Society, he has been a member of the board and president for many years. He was appointed stroke coordinator of the City of Vienna in 1999 and has coordinated the
Austrian Stroke Registry since 2002.
