Resume
Born on 16 April 1963 in Vienna. After graduating from the Schottengymnasium der Benediktiner secondary school, he studied medicine at the University of Vienna (1981-1987). During his residency, he worked at the Baumgartner Höhe Psychiatric Hospital, the Ottakring Clinic (formerly Wilhelminenspital) and the Landstraße Clinic. Trained as a specialist in internal medicine (1991-1997) and as a specialist in gastroenterology and hepatology (1997-2000) under Univ.-Doz. Dr. Werner Weiss at the 4th Medical Department of the Landstraße Clinic. Habilitation in October 2000. Since 1 January 2004, director of the 4th Medical Department at Ottakring Hospital. Since 22 April 2017, full professor of hepatology at Sigmund Freud Private University. President of the Austrian Society for Gastroenterology and Hepatology from 2020 to 2022. For many years, volunteer at Suchthilfe Wien and Neunerhaus. Scientific focus: viral hepatitis, Helicobacter pylori, colorectal adenomas, gastrointestinal endoscopy.
