Resume
Simona Mikec is a university graduate in education and a systemic family psychotherapist. For more than 20 years, she worked at a social work center, where she gained work experience in the field of working with children, young people, and families in the context of child protection and domestic violence procedures. She is currently the director of the first Children's House in Slovenia, which is based on the Barnahus model. She actively participated in the implementation group for the adoption of the Family Code, was a member of the focus group for the preparation of the Handbook on Child Participation, and was a member of the advisory group for the improvement of the juvenile criminal justice system in Slovenia. She participates in training for professionals on the topic of recognizing child sexual abuse and dealing with children and adolescents. She is also a children's advocate at the Office of the Human Rights Ombudsman of the Republic of Slovenia.
